The Pod: Small Circle, Deep Belonging

Small-group Moss & Mint

Beyond Play. Toward Belonging.

Some children thrive in a smaller circle.

The Pod offers a more intimate nature experience, with fewer participants and a higher practitioner-to-child ratio. It gives children more space to settle, connect, explore and follow their own interests at their own pace.

The Pod may be especially suited to younger children who are not yet ready for a larger group, or older children and teens who simply prefer a smaller, quieter setting.

A smaller circle, with more space

The Pod is intentionally limited to up to four children with two trained coaches. With a smaller group and a high practitioner-to-child ratio, there is more space to notice, respond and genuinely get to know each child over time.

We follow the rhythm of the children and the nature space rather than rushing towards an outcome. There is room for child-led exploration, shared discovery, quiet observation, movement, making, play and connection.

The Pod may suit children who simply prefer a smaller, more intimate group — whether they are young, older, or somewhere in between.

Connection before performance

At Nature Den, we believe children grow best when they feel safe enough to be themselves.

Our work is relational. We prioritise connection, shared calm and co-regulation — the steady support that grows through attuned relationships — before asking children to join in, achieve, explain or perform.

This does not mean lowering expectations. It means meeting each child with patience, curiosity and respect, and allowing confidence, participation and belonging to grow from there.

Nature as a place to belong

Nature is not simply a backdrop. It is part of the experience.

Whether we are among mature trees, open green spaces, trails or quieter corners of an urban park, the living landscape gives children room to explore through their senses and at their own pace. A trail can become a shared adventure. A fallen branch can become a project. A pause beneath the canopy can become a moment of connection.

Here, children are not asked to sit still or follow a fixed script. They are invited to build a real relationship with place, with others and with their own sense of possibility.

Who the Pod may suit

The Pod may be a good fit for children and young people who enjoy or benefit from:

  • A smaller, more intimate group

  • More space for individual interests and exploration

  • A high practitioner-to-child ratio

  • A gentler, more flexible pace

  • Time to settle into the environment and relationships

  • Regular, meaningful time outdoors

Every child and family is different. Before confirming a place, we begin with a conversation to understand your child or young person's interests, temperament and what they enjoy outdoors, and to consider whether The Pod is a good fit for them and the group.

Forming New Pods Now

We are currently forming new Pods across our locations. As each Pod is intentionally kept small, we are gathering families with compatible ages, interests and rhythms to form each group.

Join the interest list and tell us a little about your child or young person. We'll be in touch as Pods take shape and discuss the most suitable group and timing with you.

What happens next?

We are actively forming Pods now. Once we have enough families with compatible ages, interests, availability and preferred locations, we'll be in touch to discuss the most suitable Pod for your child.

Submitting this form does not commit you to enrolment.
