Nature Den Kinder from 3 to 4 years old
For children aged 3 to 4 years.
Kinder is our first drop-off programme at Nature Den - a gentle next step for children who are ready to spend time with us independently, without their parent or caregiver beside them.
Held by our early childhood practitioner, Kinder gives children the space to explore, play and build confidence within a small, familiar group. Our sessions take place outdoors, in nature-rich spaces such as the forest and park, where the environment itself becomes part of the children's experience.
We don't expect every child to participate in the same way. Some children may dive straight into exploring; others may need more time to settle, observe and find their place. Our practitioner stays close to what each child needs, offering support without taking over and allowing independence to grow naturally.
The forest changes, and so do the children. We follow what is happening around us - the weather, plants, animals, textures and rhythms of the place - and allow these to shape what we notice and explore together.
As children return, they begin to know the space and the people in it. They develop familiarity, confidence and a growing sense of what they can do for themselves. Small experiences build into bigger ones over time.
Kinder runs for 2.5 hours and is $65 per session.
Families can choose a weekday morning or afternoon session, depending on availability.
If your child is currently attending our Playgroup, Kinder can be a natural next step when they are ready for a little more independence.
We look forward to continuing the journey with your child as they grow with us.
A typical session
Young children don’t always follow our plans, and that’s part of the fun. We provide a gentle rhythm and thoughtful invitations, while giving children plenty of time to explore, repeat, pause or move on in their own way.
Kinder session rhythm
A typical 2.5-hour session has a gentle rhythm, while leaving room to follow the children and what is happening around us.
Arrive & settle
Children arrive, reconnect with their surroundings and ease into the morning or afternoon.
Explore & play
Time outdoors to move, play, notice, investigate and follow their interests.
Pause & gather
A quieter moment to rest, connect, have a snack and regroup.
Deeper exploration
We continue with nature-based play, practical experiences, stories, making or whatever the children and environment invite that day.
Closing & transition
We come back together, reflect on the experience and prepare to head home.
The rhythm is consistent, but the content isn't fixed. A muddy puddle, a fallen branch, an insect, a sudden rain shower or an idea from the children can all become part of the day.
