Nature Den Ecosystem
What lives around us? And what role does each living thing play?
We’ve started documenting the flora and fauna that our learners discover during Forest School — what they found, what they chose to call it, what they notice about it, and its role in the ecosystem.
We’re already learning a lot from them. Two of our learners have become our resident flora and fauna ID experts, and we’ve added an Interesting Observations field because we realised they often have much more to say about their discoveries than we initially expected!
We’re also learning that stopping to think about an organism’s role can change the way we see it. Even something we may not particularly like, such as a mosquito, has a place in the ecosystem.
This is a growing collection, and we’d love for our wider Nature Den community to contribute too.
Found something interesting? Add it to our collection.
Tell us who found it, share a photo, tell us what you think it is and what you’d like to call it, and add anything interesting you noticed.
Once submitted, your contribution becomes part of our growing collection for the community to explore.
